Exciting news! Please see the announcement below issued by the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Church in Cuba regarding the election of Bishop Rafael as Provisional Bishop of Cuba.
To all our brothers and friends,
Yesterday our Church voted unanimously in favor of Bishop Rafael Morales Maldonado, current Bishop of the Diocese of Puerto Rico, as our provisional Bishop while the search and election process for a new diocesan bishop proceeds.
This has been quite an adventure that has come to a successful end thanks to the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit and the extraordinary collaboration of all the members of the convention, clergy and laity. In particular, we have to thank God for the work done by Rev. Yannel Valdivia Melo and the inspectors Patricia de la Paz Sarraf, Rebeca Oquendo González and Sofía Frómeta Garbey. Together they worked as a team and went step by step overcoming all kinds of challenges in this first experience of online voting.
Let us give thanks to God and pray that this new phase that our diocesan family is experiencing may be one of grace and blessing for all. That together we can be the Church that God dreams for this earth and that the people expect and need. May we be a sign and voice of faith, hope, and charity in the midst of our people.

A todos los hermanos y amigos,
En el día de ayer nuestra Iglesia votó unánime a favor de que el Obispo Rafael Morales Maldonado, actual obispo de la diócesis de Puerto Rico, sea nuestro obispo provisional mientras dura el proceso de búsqueda y elección de un nuevo obispo diocesano.
Esta ha sido toda una aventura que ha tenido buen fin gracias a la presencia y guía del Espíritu Santo y a la colaboración extraordinaria de todos los miembros de la convención, clérigos y laicos. Particularmente tenemos que dar gracias a Dios por el trabajo que han hecho el Rev. Yannel Valdivia Melo y las escrutadoras Patricia de la Paz Sarraf, Rebeca Oquendo González y Sofía Frómeta Garbey. Juntos trabajaron en equipo y fueron paso a paso venciendo todo tipo de retos en esta primera experiencia del voto en línea.
Demos gracias a Dios y oremos para que esta nueva etapa que vive nuestra familia diocesana sea de gracia y bendición para todos. Que juntos podamos ser la Iglesia que Dios sueña para esta tierra y que la gente espera y necesita. Que logremos ser signo y voz de fe, esperanza y caridad en medio de nuestro pueblo.
