Solar Lamps & Chargers bring light to Cubans in the dark

Parishioners enjoying the Light

As many of you are likely aware, the electrical grid in Cuba is fragile and in crisis. As a result, there have been multiple occasions over the past several months where the entire country has not had electricity - sometimes for up to a week. While we are certainly in no position to fix the grid - we wanted to figure out a way to help our brothers and sisters there.

Thanks to a grant from St. David's Episcopal Church in Radnor PA, we have been able to purchase 100 solar lamps that also have the ability to charge a cell phone. 50 of these have already been delivered to Cuba. The remaining 50 will be delivered in early January. The lamps will be distributed evenly to churches and clergy throughout the diocese. A big thank you to St. David's.

If you or your church are planning a trip to Cuba and are interested in purchasing more of these compact and easily transported solar lamp's/phone chargers, please contact Pat Cage at admin@friendsofeccuba.org. Pat can help you access the discounted price for charities. Please click on the link below for the LuminAID company website.https://luminaid.com/

John 8:12: Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
