It has been over four years since FECC launched an appeal to raise money for a 15-person van for the Episcopal Diocese in Cuba. Government inaction, a global pandemic and the retirement of Bishop Griselda all contributed to a lengthy delay. But thanks to the generosity of donors across the U.S, the Episcopal Church in Cuba finally took delivery of a brand new 15-passenger van last week.
This is an important and very exciting development both for the Church in Cuba and Companion Parishes here in the US. For the Church in Cuba - it replaces the decades-old bus that has been the only mass transportation vehicle for clergy and congregations across the country. Given its age, the bus was no longer safe or reliable, and was restricted to trips in and around Havana. For Companion Parishes here in the US - this van is a real breakthrough. It will enable safe, reliable transportation for groups visiting their companions in Cuba - regardless of where in the country they happen to be located. A HUGE thank you to all the Churches and individuals who donated to make this transformational purchase a reality!
